Beirut, Mar 24 (UNI) Iraq plans to raise oil production to over 6 million barrels per day (bpd) by 2029, Deputy Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair said on Sunday.
“The ministry is working to achieve this goal through projects across all provinces, leveraging exploration activities by the Oil Exploration Company, as well as drilling and production operations under the six licensing rounds,” Khudair told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He named the Integrated South Gas Development Project at the Artawi field among the main current extraction projects and said a final contract with UK energy corporation BP on the development of four major oil fields in the province of Kirkuk would be signed within the next few days.
Iraqi national mining companies are responsible for 70% of the country’s oil and gas operational activities, Khudair added.
