International expert’s lecture at AIIMS Bhopal

  • Modern treatment of lymphoma can give new life to patients

AIIMS Bhopal’s Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine hosted a significant guest’s lecture and case-based discussion, guided by Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Madhabananda Kar. The event featured Dr. Pallavi Kanwar Galera, a prominent hematopathologist from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and Associate Program Director of the Hematopathology Fellowship, as the expert speaker.

Dr. Pallavi delivered an insightful lecture titled “Evolving Concepts in Follicular Lymphoma Classification, Tumor Microenvironment, and Biology.” She also led a case-based discussion on “Approach to Lymphomas,” allowing residents and doctors to engage with real-life cases. Timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment of lymphoma, a blood-related cancer, are crucial for saving lives. Dr. Pallavi emphasized that recent advancements in lymphoma diagnosis have led to more effective treatment strategies. Early identification of the disease can significantly enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.

The session attracted faculty and residents from Pathology, Pediatrics, Clinical Hematology, and Medical Oncology, who found the lecture highly relevant to their practice. The Head of the Department of Pathology expressed gratitude for Dr. Pallavi’s contributions, noting that her insights would enrich doctors’ understanding and treatment of critical diseases like lymphoma.
