Bhopal: Dehat Police of Narmadapuram have busted a shrewd inter-State gang that allegedly cheated elderly and ailing people by falsely promising guaranteed cures, and arrested two accused in the case.

According to the police, on December 13–14, 2025, the accused contacted a local complainant, introduced themselves as acquaintances and assured him of curing his illness. They provided the number of a purported doctor and promised a home visit for examination and treatment. The next day, two men posing as doctors visited the complainant’s house, claimed to have a “patented formula” medicine, and convinced him to transfer ₹1 lakh online by showing a QR code. They then fled, claiming the medicine was kept in their vehicle.

Following the complaint, a case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Acting on technical evidence, CCTV footage and bank details, police traced the suspects and arrested them near Bhopal. Investigations revealed the gang targeted people over 50 years of age and frequently changed SIM cards and mobile phones.

Police have appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to such frauds.
