Intel alert ahead of Republic Day: security heightened across Delhi, major cities

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Ahead of Republic Day, the country’s intelligence agencies have issued a high alert over potential terror threats allegedly from Khalistani terrorist organizations and Bangladesh-based terror groups .

According to the warning, Delhi and several other major cities across the country could be potential targets.

Following this input, security agencies have been placed on high alert and surveillance has been intensified in sensitive areas.

Intelligence sources reveal that some Punjab-based gangsters are reportedly operating as “foot soldiers” for Khalistani and other radical foreign handlers. It is alleged that handlers, based abroad, are using these criminal networks to advance their designs and plot to disrupt the country’s internal security.

The alert points to the fact that these gangsters are active in Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Their links with Khalistani terrorist elements are gradually strengthening, which has heightened concerns for security agencies.

Sources say these networks could be used to carry out activities like arms smuggling, funding, and logistical support. In light of this, security is being tightened in Delhi and other metro cities. Instructions have been issued to deploy additional forces, conduct intensive checks, and enhance technical surveillance at all venues associated with the Republic Day celebrations.

Security agencies have also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police or relevant authorities. Officials state that all inputs are being closely monitored and agencies are fully prepared to counter any threat.
