New Delhi, Dec 16 (UNI) Trinamool Congress member Saket Gokhale on Monday said that ‘injustice has been the ‘hallmark of the Modi government’.
He said, during the two-day debate on the 75 years of journey of Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, his party will remind Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the nine key terms in the preamble of the Constitution of India which the Centre has completely destroyed.
Gokhale said, “Workers are not being given money under MNREGA. The Constitution is being torn to pieces, farmers are not being listened to and their protests are being crushed. Moreover, repression is taking place in the name of political justice”.
DMK’s Tiruchi Siva said that the Indian Constitution is a unique document which mentions the principles of Indian polity.
He said that the government should emphasise on protection of political, social and cultural rights while maintaining diversity. The government should prevent fear from spreading among linguistic and religious minorities.
Siva said that the Centre should distribute resources appropriately and resources should be given to each state as per its requirement. Moreover, he opposed the ‘One Nation One Election’.
Participating in the debate, BJD’s Debashish Samantaray said that the Constitution has traveled a long journey. During this period, Congress and BJP have been in power and regional parties have cooperated. Both the big parties have used the Constitution in their own way.
