New Delhi/Perth Oct 14 (UNI) Australia wicketkeeper Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the One-Day International against India due to a calf injury, while spinner Adam Zampa will also miss the match due to family reasons.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Australia added wicket-keeper Josh Philippe and spinner Matthew Kuhnemann to their squad for the series opener against India on Sunday.
Philippe, who last played an ODI against the West Indies in 2021, is replacing Josh Inglis who is recovering from a calf strain that saw him miss Australia’s tour of New Zealand.
Alex Carey will not feature in the first ODI as he turns out for South Australia in their Sheffield Shield match against Queensland as part of his preparation for the Ashes next month.
Carey is expected to rejoin the squad ahead of the second ODI, while a Cricket Australia spokesperson said Inglis will be available for the third ODI in Sydney on October 25.
Kuhnemann is in line to play his first ODI since 2022 with Matt Short and Cooper Connolly the other spin options available for the hosts, the website noted.
Zampa is likely to return for the Adelaide ODI.
India earlier this month announced a strong squad including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
