Bhopal: With the Simhastha Mahakumbh in Ujjain just three years away, Indore is bustling with preparations to accommodate the millions of pilgrims expected to pass through the city. Recognizing its crucial role as a gateway, Indore is undergoing a massive infrastructure overhaul, focusing on its railway station, bus stands, and road networks to ensure seamless pilgrim movement.

Rs 450 crore Railway Station revamp

The redevelopment of Indore’s main railway station has commenced, a ?450 crore project slated for completion before Simhastha 2028. During construction, train operations from the main station will shift to Laxmibai Nagar Railway Station, where new platforms and a modern station building are rapidly taking shape.

New Bus Stand & road upgrades

A new, state-of-the-art bus stand on the Super Corridor, built at a cost of ?50 crore, is now complete. This facility will significantly manage the influx of bus traffic during the Kumbh Mela. To ease highway congestion, the Indore-Ujjain road is being expanded to six lanes, complementing the existing four-lane stretch from Dewas to Ujjain. Additionally, the widening of 30-kilometer roads connecting Hatod to Ujjain and Bhangarh to Dewas Road has also begun.

MR-12 Link Road to bypass city traffic

To ensure pilgrims avoid city traffic, the Indore Development Authority is constructing the MR-12 link road from Ujjain Road to the bypass. This route will also benefit those visiting Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, and Mandu. Authorities assure all projects will be completed on schedule, promising pilgrims a smooth, convenient, and safe travel experience as Indore gears up to be the ultimate gateway to Simhastha.
