IndiGo waives cancellation charges for West Asia travel until March 31; Indian airlines operate special flights

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) India’s leading airline, IndiGo, Friday announced that passengers scheduled to travel to destinations in the region, can cancel their tickets without paying cancellation charges for journeys planned until March 31.

In a statement issued here, the airline said the waiver applies to tickets booked for travel to various West Asian destinations as well as Istanbul, Turkey.

The airline emphasised that no additional cancellation fee will be charged for eligible bookings during this period.

Passengers have been advised to regularly check the updated status of their flights through the airline’s official website or by contacting customer care services.

Alongside the fee waiver, IndiGo has also initiated special flight operations to assist passengers stranded in West Asia due to disruptions in regular air traffic.

According to the airline, 17 special flights are being operated on Friday to bring affected passengers back to India.

These flights are scheduled to arrive from eight major cities in the region, including Medina, Jeddah, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Dubai, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah. The move is aimed at easing travel difficulties faced by passengers amid the ongoing regional tensions.

Another Indian private carrier, SpiceJet, has also stepped up operations to facilitate passenger movement from the region. The airline is operating 14 special flights on Friday.

Of these, nine flights will operate from Fujairah to Mumbai, four flights from Fujairah to Delhi, and one flight from Dubai to Pune.

Airline officials said that over the past three days, a total of 25 special flights have already been operated to manage the surge in travel demand and assist stranded travelers.

Meanwhile, several Indian airlines have begun restoring limited regular flight services between India and West Asian destinations.

National carrier Air India has resumed flights from Jeddah to Delhi and Mumbai, while Akasa Air has started operating flights from Jeddah to Mumbai.

Similarly, Air India Express has restarted regular services connecting Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Mumbai, and Tiruchirappalli with Muscat. The airline has also announced additional special flights from Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah to help accommodate passengers affected by recent travel disruptions.

Air India has also scheduled four special flights from Dubai to India, operating two flights each to Mumbai and Delhi. The flights include AI983D/AI984D and AI4201/AI4202 on the Mumbai–Dubai–Mumbai sector and AI995D/AI996D along with AI4205/AI4206 on the Delhi–Dubai–Delhi route.

In addition to the special flight arrangements, Air India stated that passengers holding tickets for travel until March 10 can cancel their bookings without any cancellation charges. The airline has also waived fees for date changes, offering greater flexibility to travelers affected by the ongoing situation.
