IndiGo tire Bursts at Jabalpur Airport after landing

  • Major incident averted

Jabalpur: A potential aviation disaster was narrowly averted at Dumna Airport today when an IndiGo Airlines Airbus aircraft suffered a tire burst around 11:30 AM. Crucially, the incident occurred after all 180 passengers had safely disembarked and the plane was being maneuvered towards the apron for parking, ensuring no injuries or casualties.

The Airbus, arriving from Mumbai, had completed its landing procedures and was taxing when the tire suddenly gave way. Sources suggest a sharp, nail-like metal object may have punctured the tire. Airport authorities have remained tight-lipped regarding specific details, and the incident site was quickly cordoned off from public access.

IndiGo cites ‘Technical Glitch’

IndiGo has officially attributed the incident to a “technical glitch.” A specialized team of technical experts has been summoned from Delhi to replace the damaged tire and conduct comprehensive checks on the aircraft. Repair work is estimated to take approximately one hour.

The same aircraft was scheduled to depart for Mumbai around 5 PM today. As a result of the necessary repairs and inspections, this evening’s flight is expected to experience delays. IndiGo has reassured that the aircraft will only resume operations once it is certified as completely safe and technically sound. Airport officials have also confirmed an ongoing investigation, with a review of safety protocols planned to prevent similar occurrences.
