New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) The latest WPI (Wholesale Price Index) data marked wholesale inflation for June at negative 0.13%.
It is the lowest recorded data since October 2023. WPI or Wholesale Price Index data is released by the Office of the Economic Advisor within DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade). It comes under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
A WPI or Wholesale Price Index tracks major changes in the overall price of goods before they are sold or traded. This indicator shows the crucial price movements at the wholesale level.
WPI is a major indicator of inflation and is used to track multiple economic calculations. It is also used as a deflator for estimating the GDP, or Gross Domestic Product. Policymakers use the trends extracted to make policies in different sectors, including agriculture, mining, and manufacturing.
