India’s Enforcement Directorate assumes Presidency of Asset Recovery Body ARIN-AP in 2026

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) assumed presidency of the Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network Asia Pacific (ARIN-AP) for 2026.

The handover occurred during the 10th ARIN-AP Annual General Meeting in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, which concluded today. India, represented by its nodal agency, the ED, has been a member of this network since 2016 and was elected to its apex Steering Committee in 2024.

India will also host the network’s 11th Annual General Meeting next year.

While taking over the presidency, a Joint Director of Enforcement described ARIN-AP as a “family” and a forum for collaborative problem-solving.

He outlined priority areas for India’s term, including strengthening direct contact between member agencies, building capacity, and enhancing outreach.

ARIN-AP is an informal platform of practitioners aimed at improving cooperation in identifying, tracing, freezing, and recovering the proceeds of crime.

It currently includes 28 member jurisdictions and 10 observers.

The presidency is seen as an opportunity for India to contribute to international cooperation in asset recovery.

It will allow the ED to deepen synergies with global initiatives and promote partnerships in tackling financial crime.

The ED’s role in ARIN-AP supplements India’s participation in other multilateral forums like the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and aligns with the government’s policy of targeting the proceeds of crime.
