Paris, Aug 5 (UNI) India’s historic badminton campaign at the Paris 2024 Olympics came to an end on Monday with Lakshya Sen’s loss to Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia in the men’s singles bronze medal match with the final score of 21-13, 16-21, 11-21.
Sen, who had shown exceptional form throughout the tournament, claimed the first game of the match, giving hope to fans that he might secure India’s first Olympic medal in men’s singles badminton.
However, Lee Zii Jia, the seventh seed, demonstrated remarkable resilience and tactical prowess to clinch the next two games and the bronze medal.
This loss comes after Sen’s earlier defeat to the defending Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen in the semifinals.
