Bhopal: In a strategic move to bolster rail safety and operational efficiency, Indian Railways is prioritizing the well-being of its frontline workforce through the newly developed ‘Chalak Dal’ application. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the app empowers Loco Pilots, Assistant Loco Pilots, and Train Managers to digitally log grievances regarding running room facilities. By transitioning from traditional registers to this transparent digital platform, the railway administration aims to ensure high-quality rest for the crew, which is directly linked to passenger safety and the prevention of operational lapses.
Senior DCM Saurabh Kataria emphasized that while some staff still use localized manual systems, the shift to the centralized app is crucial for high-level monitoring and swift resolution of issues. Proper rest for running staff is not just a comfort measure but a vital safety protocol. By providing a direct channel to the central management system, the ‘Chalak Dal’ app ensures that the voices of the crew are heard, their rest environments are improved, and the overall quality of railway services remains uncompromisingly high.
