Mumbai, Dec 21 (UNI) The World Cup-winning Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team received a warm welcome at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters on December 19, following their historic triumph at the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, the BCCI announced on Sunday.
The team, which remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, was felicitated by BCCI Honorary Treasurer Raghuram Bhat, who interacted with the players and extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the board. The visit marked a significant moment for blind women’s cricket in India, underlining the growing recognition and support for the sport at the national level.
India clinched the title with a dominant performance in the final against Nepal, successfully chasing a target of 115 in just 12.1 overs to register a seven-wicket victory. The comprehensive win capped off a remarkable campaign for the Indian side, showcasing their consistency, skill, and composure on the biggest stage.
The BCCI congratulated captain Deepika TC, her teammates, and the support staff for their phenomenal effort. BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia also addressed the team virtually during the interaction, assuring continued support from the board, including assistance with playing kits and travel for future tours.
Calling the achievement historic, the BCCI acknowledged the team’s success as a milestone that will remain etched in Indian cricket’s history. Several senior BCCI officials lauded the players for their resilience and determination.

Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia highlighted the broader success of Indian women’s cricket, noting that the blind women’s team’s World Cup win came at a time when Indian women’s cricket has been enjoying a special phase. He praised Captain Deepika and her squad for their brilliant run in the tournament.
Treasurer Raghuram Bhat, who hosted the team at the headquarters, emphasised the mental strength and resilience shown by the players, saying their performance had made the nation proud. Honorary Joint Secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia also congratulated the team, pointing out that women’s cricket in 2025 has witnessed phenomenal results, with the blind women’s team’s victory standing out as a monumental achievement.
