New Delhi, July 22 (UNI) The Indian Army today received the first batch of three state-of-the-art Apache combat helicopters from the US.
The helicopters landed at the Hindon Air Base, on the outskirts of Delhi.
In a post on X, the Indian Army said, “Milestone moment for Indian Army as the first batch of Apache helicopters for Army Aviation arrive today in India. These state-of-the-art platforms will bolster the operational capabilities of the Indian Army significantly”.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on X said that the arrival of the first batch of Apache helicopters is a significant step towards strengthening India’s defence capabilities.
“The arrival of the first batch of Apache helicopters for the Indian Army is a significant step towards strengthening India’s defence capabilities. These advanced helicopters will enhance the Army Aviation wing’s operational effectiveness, specially in challenging terrains. A proud moment reflecting our commitment to modernising the Armed Forces,” Rajnath Singh said.
The delivery is part of a contract between the Ministry of Defence and Boeing, one of the world’s major aerospace companies, for the purchase of six AH-64E Apache helicopters.
The delivery was originally scheduled to begin last year but was delayed by a year. These helicopters are expected to be deployed in Jodhpur.
