India, UK agree to resume negotiations towards balanced, mutually beneficial FTA

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) India and the UK have agreed to resume negotiations towards a balanced, mutually beneficial and a forward-looking free trade deal that delivers mutual growth and builds on the strengths of the two complementary economies.

This was decided as India and the UK have resumed negotiations towards a trade deal between the two countries.

This announcement was made by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Secretary of State for the Department for Business and Trade of the UK Jonathan Reynolds in Delhi, a statement from the UK High Commission said today.

The two ministers agreed that the strengthening of the trading relationship between the two countries has the potential to unlock opportunities for business and consumers across both our nations and build further on the already deep ties.

The announcement on resumption of the FTA is an outcome of the discussions held at the level of Prime Ministers of the two countries.
