New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) India is set to hold the 7th meeting of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) in the national Capital on Thursday, bringing together National Security Advisers (NSAs) from across the Indian Ocean region for key regional security discussions.
India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval will chair the meeting, which brings together senior security officials from member countries, including the Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Seychelles will attend as an observer, while Malaysia has been invited as a special guest for this year’s discussions.
The upcoming session follows a series of high-level engagements among CSC nations, including the 6th NSA-level meeting held in Mauritius in December 2023 and the signing of the Conclave’s Founding Documents in Sri Lanka in August 2024. Deputy NSAs have also maintained regular dialogue, with their most recent virtual meeting in July 2024.
Created to deepen collaboration on shared security challenges in the Indian Ocean region, the CSC focuses on five core areas: maritime safety and security, counterterrorism and prevention of radicalisation, combating transnational organised crime, cybersecurity and protection of critical infrastructure, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
Officials are expected to review ongoing initiatives under each of these pillars and finalise a joint roadmap and action plan for 2026, signaling the bloc’s intent to strengthen coordinated responses to evolving security threats in the region.
