New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bat first against the West Indies in the second Test of the series being played at Arun Jaitley Stadium here today.
“We will bat first, the wicket looks good to bat on Day 1,” Gill said at the toss. “Just want to stay consistent and repeat the performance from the previous match. Not much has changed — I’m the same person, with more responsibility, and I love it,” he added. India are fielding an unchanged XI from the previous Test.
West Indies skipper Roston Chase said his side was also prepared to bat first had they won the toss. “We were batting first as well. The pitch looks dry, so not too worried. We’ve had some big discussions as a batting group and want to bat the whole day, the entire 90 overs — bat consistently,” Chase said.
The Windies have made two changes — Brandon King and Johann Layne miss out, while Anderson Phillip and Tevin Imlach come into the side. “Imlach is from Guyana and is used to these sort of surfaces,” Chase noted.
