India maintain perfect T20I chase record over Pak

Dubai, (UNI) India extended their dominance over Pakistan in T20 cricket, winning all nine T20Is against their arch-rivals while chasing, with a five-wicket triumph in the Asia Cup 2025 final at Dubai International Stadium.

The victory saw India recover from an early three-wicket loss for 20 runs, continuing a remarkable trend of successful run-chases against Pakistan in similar situations. India had previously pulled off such comebacks in Mirpur (2016), Kolkata (2016), and Melbourne (2022), showcasing their resilience in high-pressure encounters.

Opener Tilak Varma played a key role in India’s chase, maintaining his stellar form in T20I run-chases. In 11 innings while chasing, Tilak has scored 370 runs at an average of 92.50 and a strike rate of 134.54, including three half-centuries.

The match also highlighted Shivam Dube’s consistency, who remains unbeaten in his last 34 completed matches for India since December 2019.

India’s record against Pakistan in tournament finals remains formidable. Previous victories include wins by eight wickets in Melbourne (Benson and Hedges Cup 1984/85), by eight and three wickets in Dhaka (Independence Cup 1997/98), and by five runs in Johannesburg (T20 WC 2007). The Dubai win adds another five-wicket victory to India’s tally in finals against Pakistan.

With this win, India not only lifted the Asia Cup 2025 but also reinforced their psychological edge over Pakistan in T20 cricket, particularly in high-stakes run-chases.
