India in touch with Iran over three missing Indian nationals: MEA

New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) India is in touch with Tehran over three Indian nationals who have gone missing while on a business trip to Iran, the Ministry of External Affairs said today.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, addressing a media briefing, said the ministry is in touch with the families of the three Indian nationals, who are from different parts of India.

“We are in touch with their families. We have taken up the matter with the Iranian Embassy here and the Iranian Foreign ministry in Tehran.

“Both MEA and our Embassy are in touch and we have strongly taken up the matter so that we could locate these people, and see where they are and render all assistance to them and their families,” he said.

He said their families lost contact with the three men shortly after their arrival in Iran in December.

“We have also requested the Iranian authorities to ensure their safety and security,” he added.

According to news reports, the names of two are Yogesh Panchal and Mohammad Sadeeque. They had travelled to Iran in December 2024 under the 15-day visa waiver programme for business purposes. They were last known to be staying in a hostel in Tehran.
