New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) India has set a Guinness World Record with more than 2.5 lakh AI Responsibility Pledges in 24 hours, stated Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, announcing the achievement at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam.
The record was achieved between February 16 and 17, with a total of 2,50,946 valid pledges verified by Guinness World Records adjudicator Pravin Patel.
The AI Responsibility Pledge campaign, launched under the IndiaAI Mission in collaboration with Intel India, is aimed to mobilise citizens to commit to ethical, inclusive, and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence.
Participants answered scenario-based questions on data privacy, accountability, transparency, and combating misinformation. Completing the pledge earned participants a digital badge and access to AI learning pathways.
Vaishnaw highlighted that the record-setting participation far exceeded the initial target of 5,000 pledges and reflected strong public engagement.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for inspiring youth to adopt AI responsibly and emphasised that the initiative marks a significant step toward building a trustworthy, human-centric AI ecosystem in India.
Officials said the campaign represents a milestone in citizen-led digital responsibility, reinforcing India’s commitment to ethical AI adoption and inclusive public engagement on emerging technologies.
