Beijing/New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) India today asked China’s state-run Global Times to verify its facts and cross examine sources before pushing out disinformation peddled by Pakistan.
The Indian Embassy in Beijing said this to Global Times, the mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party, in response to the Chinese media house posting that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has shot down Indian fighter jets, quoting sources in the Pakistani military establishment.
“Dear @globaltimesnews , we would recommend you verify your facts and cross-examine your sources before pushing out this kind of dis-information.”
The Indian Embassy attached a post by the Global Times where it said that “The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has shot down another Indian fighter jet in response to overnight airstrikes carried out by India at multiple locations in Pakistan, sources from the Pakistani military said on Wednesday.”
The Global Times also posted an image of an Indian jet in flames, which was an old image of a crashed jet which was being re-circulated by pro-Pakistani handles in the context of Operation Sindoor.
The PIB Factcheck handle said it was an image from an earlier incident involving an IAF MIG 29 jet that crashed in Barmer, Rajasthan in September last year.
The Chinese news agency Xinhua described it as the “third Indian fighter jet that has been shot down in response to the overnight strikes, said the military sources”.
Pro-Pakistan handles have been claiming that the Pakistani Air Force has shot down Indian fighter jets in retaliation for Operation Sindoor, where the Indian Armed forces conducted precise missile strikes across the border at terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
