India A Women down NZ by 4 wickets in warm-up clash

Bengaluru, Sept 25 (UNI) Skipper Minnu Mani and wicketkeeper Mamatha Madiwala guided India A Women to a four-wicket win over New Zealand Women in their ICC Women’s World Cup warm-up match at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground B here today.

Chasing a revised target of 224 in 40 overs under the DLS method after New Zealand posted 273 for nine in their 50 overs, India A reached 226 for six in 39.3 overs.

For the hosts, Minnu led from the front with an unbeaten 39 off 53 balls, while Mamatha produced a match-winning knock of 56 not out off just 60 deliveries. Earlier, Shafali Verma gave a brisk start with 70 off 49 balls, hitting 11 fours and a six, before falling to Amelia Kerr.

New Zealand Women, who opted to bat first, were anchored by keeper-batsman Isabella Grace, who scored a run-a-ball 101. Sophie Devine contributed a quickfire 34 off 29 balls, while Maddy Green made 30. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the visitors reached 273 thanks to Isabella’s century and Jess Kerr’s 36.

Among Indian bowlers, Sayali Satghare claimed three wickets for 45, while Tanuja Kanwar and Saima Thakor picked up one apiece.

For New Zealand, Jess Kerr bowled a sharp spell, bagging 2 for 15, while Amelia Kerr took 2 wickets. However, they failed to stop the lower-order resistance of India A.

India A’s victory was sealed when Madiwala struck the winning runs in the 40th over.
