New Delhi/Chennai, Jan 5 (UNI) union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday addressed the closing ceremony of the ‘Tamilagam Thalai Nimira Tamilanin Payanam Yatra’ in Pudukkottai, where he highlighted the political journey of the NDA and targeted the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu.
Shah said that since 2024, the NDA has been moving ahead with decisive victories under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that Modi became Prime Minister for the third time in 2024. He also pointed out that for the first time, NDA governments were formed in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, while Haryana saw an NDA government for the third consecutive term.
He further said in 2025, the BJP-led NDA again formed the government for the third time, and after 27 years, an NDA government was formed in Delhi. Shah added that the INDI alliance was completely defeated in Bihar and claimed that Tamil Nadu and West Bengal would be next.
Targeting the DMK, Shah alleged that the Tamil Nadu government had turned the state into a dumping ground, with waste from other states being dumped into its rivers. He also accused the DMK of repeatedly disrespecting Hindu faith and beliefs.
Speaking on the Centre’s steps to promote Tamil language and culture, Shah said that Prime Minister Modi set up the Subramania Bharathi Chair on Tamil Studies at Banaras Hindu University and ensured that the Thirukkural was translated into 13 languages. He rejected claims that the NDA opposes the Tamil language, stating that IAS and IPS examinations were conducted in Tamil on Modi’s initiative, even before Sanskrit.
Shah said an NDA government would be formed in Tamil Nadu in April 2026. He described the AIADMK and BJP alliance as a natural one, recalling that both parties had contested elections together in 1998, 2019 and 2021.
Attacking the DMK leadership, Shah alleged that the sole aim of the current government was to make Chief Minister M K Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, the next Chief Minister. He said the time had come to end dynasty politics in the state.
Shah further said that in the upcoming elections, the BJP, along with AIADMK and other allies, would take on Congress and the DMK. He accused the DMK of failing on all fronts and alleged that it was among the most corrupt governments in the country.
