Bengali beauty Raima Sen who is going to be seen in a film releasing on 2nd February - Kuldip Patwal: I Didn’t Do It admires Meryl Streep a lot. The bubbly Sen said; `I am totally in awe of Meryl Streep.
The way she has been able to get inside her character of a newspaper heiress in ‘The Post’. The vulnerability of the character as she is trying to balance her social life with the responsibility of a big publication house is clearly reflected in her acting.`
The Post which released in India this month is a film by Steven Spielberg with an ensemble cast also starring Tom Hanks. It is a political thriller and tries to give a glimpse of the life of journalists and work patterns at a publication house. The film has already got several award nominations including that for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Orginal Score, etc.
Raima who starred in a thriller as well this month ‘Vodka Diaries’ was also critically acclaimed for her performance in the film. Commenting on Meryl Streep she further said; `I like her as an actress as well. I have watched her first film ‘Julia’ and she had a small role in that. Just the way I had a limited role in Godmother.’
Streep has worked extensively in theatre before joining films and knows to speak many languages. She made her debut in 1977 with Julia and worked in more than 80 films. Meryl Streep has been nominated for Academy awards an astonishing 21 times and won thrice.
Raima Sen has her plate full this year, she is currently shooting for two movies and promoting two - Kuldip Patwal: I didn’t do it and 3Dev which is releasing on 23rd March. `I ensure that I take out time from my schedule to watch International Cinema and get motivated by actors like Streep` concluded Raima.
