One killed in Jammu as Pak violates ceasefire

Agencies, Jammu A civilian was killed while two others were injured in cross-border firing along the International border on Sunday when Pakistani Rangers yet again violated the ceasefire agreement. “A civilian had died and two others got injured after hit by splinters in Kanhachak area,” an official said.The deceased was identified as Gopal Dass Bawa (44), while his brother Ram Dass Bawa (46) got injured. Injured have been shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital. Earlier the guns fell silent on IB on late Saturday night but Pakistan resorted to heavy unprovoked firing on the Line of Control in Nowshera sector of Rajouri. “Pakistan on Sunday evening fired heavily and targetted civilian population in bordering R S Pura, Pargwal, Kanhachak and Arnia belts,” said an official. He said that BSF troops are giving befitting and strong reply to the cross border firing. Troops guarding the border retaliated the fire and exchange of fire was continuing till last reports came in. So far, since Thursday intense shelling by Pakistan in entire Jammu region along the LoC and IB has left 11 persons, including six civilians dead, and over 50 others injured.
