Income tax raids conducted at premises linked to former SP MP’s relative in Rampur

Rampur, Feb 26 (UNI) The Income Tax Department on Thursday carried out raids at multiple premises linked to Naeem Khan alias Bablu, the relative of former Samajwadi Party MP Dr ST Hasan. Officials arrived around 10 am in nearly 12 vehicles and began simultaneous searches at factories and residential properties associated with Khan.
The raids were conducted at two furniture manufacturing units operating under the name MN Industries in Bagi village under the Kotwali area. The two factories, located approximately 500 meters apart, are run in partnership. Security personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were deployed at the factory gates, which were locked during the operation.
Income Tax officials also reached Khan’s residence in Mohsin-e-Azam Colony and the house of his business partner, Munnan Khan, located on Shaukat Ali Road. Family members at both residences were reportedly instructed not to leave while the searches were underway. Naeem Khan is related to former Moradabad MP ST Hasan through marriage; Hasan’s daughter is married to Khan’s son. Additionally, Munnan Khan’s daughter is married to another son of Naeem Khan, making the two businessmen relatives as well.
During the raids, officials questioned factory employees and examined financial records, computers, account books, and transaction details. No one was allowed to enter or exit the premises during the searches. The Income Tax Department has not yet released an official statement regarding the operation. The action is linked to suspected financial irregularities.
It remains unclear whether Naeem Khan and Munnan Khan were present inside the premises during the searches. In a related development earlier on Wednesday, the Income Tax Department conducted raids at premises linked to Bahujan Samaj Party’s lone MLA Umashankar Singh across Uttar Pradesh. Searches were carried out at around 15 locations, including Lucknow, Sonbhadra, Kaushambi, and Ballia.
Approximately Rs 11.5 crore in cash, along with expensive watches, gold, silver, and other valuables, were reportedly recovered in Lucknow. However, officials have not formally confirmed the seizures. Authorities are said to be investigating a case involving alleged tax evasion amounting to nearly Rs 1,000 crore, examining documents, electronic devices, and other financial records as part of the ongoing probe.
