Rawalpindi, (UNI) Former Pakistan cricket captain and jailed political leader, Imran Khan, offered a humorous suggestion to help Pakistan win matches following consecutive Asia Cup losses to India.
According to Imran’s sister Aleema Khan, he proposed that Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi open the batting, while Pakistan Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Pakistan Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raza serve as umpires. He described this quirky arrangement as a potential way to secure victory in future games.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s historic cricketing success, Imran recalled the October 21, 2021 match in which Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets. He said that team was confident and strong, contrasting it with the current squad, which he described as destabilised and struggling after the recent Asia Cup defeats.
He also drew a parallel between Mohsin Naqvi’s management of cricket and Asim Munir’s leadership of Pakistan, suggesting that both have faced challenges that have affected performance and stability.
Imran emphasised that cricket remains one of the most passionately followed sports in Pakistan and expressed disappointment that the team’s current situation undermines public expectations.
He concluded that careful planning, leadership, and strategy would be key to restoring the team’s former strength.
