Illegal arms crackdown yields major success across MP

Bhopal: In a sweeping ten-day statewide crackdown on illegal arms, the Madhya Pradesh Police have reported significant achievements under their ongoing special campaign. Between 2 and 12 December, coordinated operations across Barwani, Sagar, Indore, Shivpuri, Chhatarpur and Morena districts led to the seizure of 15 illicit firearms—including country-made pistols, kattas and adhiyas—and the arrest of 10 accused individuals. Officials said the campaign reflects the police force’s “firm commitment to public safety and crime prevention”.

Key Operations

Barwani (Julwania Police)

Acting on a tip-off, Julwania police arrested Sitaram Sikligar and recovered three country-made pistols from his possession. A case has been registered against him under the Arms Act.

Sagar

Civil Lines police intercepted a vehicle following credible intelligence and detained a suspect transporting illegal weapons. Officers seized two pistols, four live rounds, two knives and a Maruti van during the operation.

Indore (Rau Police’s major breakthrough)

In a significant inter-state operation, Rau police apprehended three criminals from Haryana and Delhi. The team recovered four country-made pistols and two magazines, marking one of the most notable catches of the drive.

District-wise seizures

Shivpuri (Karaera and Govardhan Police Stations)

Karaera police arrested an accused carrying a 315-bore country-made gun and a cartridge. Govardhan police detained another suspect, recovering a 315-bore katta, two live rounds and a motorcycle.

Chhatarpur (Bada Malhara, Satai, Gaurihar)

Three suspects were caught in separate patrol-based operations. Recoveries included country-made pistols, kattas and cartridges. Among them was habitual offender Udaybhan, wanted in 17 cases including attempted murder, robbery and illegal arms possession.

Morena (Ambah Police Station)

In a digitally driven operation, Ambah police arrested a man who had displayed illegal weapons on social media. The team seized a 32-bore pistol, three magazines and 18 live rounds, showcasing effective cyber-intelligence monitoring.

Madhya Pradesh Police reiterated that they remain vigilant and committed to maintaining law and order through decisive, intelligence-led enforcement.
