IIS Bengaluru tops NIRF 2024 University rankings; IIT Madras leads overall

New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bengaluru on Monday topped the National Institutional Ranking Framework 2024 University rankings in the category of top 100 universities in the country.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi secured second position followed by Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi which ranked third.

In the overall category of the top 100 institutions, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras secured the first rank, followed by the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, which secured the second and third positions, respectively.

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna, and Savitribai Phule Pune University are also among the top 100 in the overall category.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, topped the category of open universities in the country, with Netaji Subhash Open University, Kolkata, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University following.

In the category of top 100 colleges, Hindu College, Miranda House, and St. Stephen’s College secured the top three ranks.

In the category of the top 50 research institutions, the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi secured the first three ranks.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi achieved the first rank in the category of the top 50 medical institutions, with the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, and Christian Medical College, Vellore, securing the second and third positions, respectively.
