Bhopal: Five Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers undergoing training at the State Administrative Academy paid a courtesy visit to Director General of Police Kailash Makwana on Friday. The interaction was organised with the objective of exchanging administrative experiences, deliberating on issues related to internal security, and strengthening inter-service coordination.
Welcoming the officers, DGP Makwana acquainted them with the organisational structure, functioning and responsibilities of the Madhya Pradesh Police. He shared detailed insights into initiatives undertaken in the areas of law and order, internal security, cybercrime control, campaigns against illegal narcotics, and innovations in technology-driven policing.
Emphasising ethical conduct, the DGP said that integrity and impartiality become essential the moment an officer enters public service. He noted that honesty and fairness form the true foundation of an officer’s credibility and public trust, adding that selfless service is the real essence of public duty.
Sharing experiences from his early postings in Durg, Morena and Bastar, Makwana highlighted the challenges faced during initial years of service and the importance of continuous self-motivation. He underlined that sensitivity towards subordinate staff, attentive listening and understanding their concerns are hallmarks of effective leadership that naturally command respect. Referring to law-and-order situations in Mandsaur, he stressed that every administrative decision must reflect public confidence through prompt, fair and effective action.
The DGP advised the trainee officers to utilise this learning phase fully, seek guidance from seniors when required, adopt modern technology, and discharge their duties with commitment and sincerity.
The IFS officers shared their training experiences, discussed India’s diplomatic role on global platforms, and underscored the importance of strong internal security mechanisms at the state level. They appreciated the innovations and people-centric initiatives of the Madhya Pradesh Police.
The interaction marked a significant step towards enhancing cooperation and mutual understanding among different administrative services. PSO to the DGP Vineet Kapoor and SO to the DGP Malay Jain were present, while the programme was conducted by Officer on Special Duty Neha Bhartiya.
