IFFD marks Guru Dutt’s birth centenary with a special retrospective at Bharat Mandapam

New Delhi, March 17 (UNI) The International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) will celebrate 100 years of legendary filmmaker and actor Guru Dutt with a special retrospective at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The program pays tribute to one of the most influential voices in Indian cinema by bringing some of his iconic films back to the big screen.

The retrospective will feature a curated selection of Guru Dutt’s landmark works, including ‘Pyaasa’, ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’ and ‘Aar Paar’.

Together, these films reflect the range of Guru Dutt’s cinematic vision, from stylish noir-influenced storytelling to deeply introspective narratives that explored love, artistic struggle and social disillusionment.

A key highlight of the retrospective will be the screening of ‘Pyaasa’ in its newly restored 4K version. The restoration brings renewed clarity to one of the most celebrated films in Indian cinema, allowing audiences to experience its evocative imagery, memorable music and powerful storytelling with enhanced visual and sound quality.
