Bhopal, AIIMS Bhopal has been awarded the ICMR Intermediate Grant for research on Early Childhood Development (ECD) in “at-risk” children. This research project focuses on understanding the impact of early biological and psychosocial experiences on brain development and addressing related challenges. The study will examine critical factors such as malnutrition, iron and iodine deficiencies, lack of cognitive stimulation, and maternal depression, which are linked to poor developmental outcomes in children.
Speaking on the importance of this research, Prof. Singh said, “This research reflects AIIMS Bhopal’s commitment to addressing critical issues related to the development of vulnerable children. Our goal is to develop effective solutions to help children reach their full potential and improve child development and public health outcomes.” The project will be led by Dr. Deepti Dabar, Associate Professor in the Department of Community and Family Medicine, with co-investigators Dr. Pankaj Prasad, Dr. Anindo Majumdar, Dr. Priya Gogia, Dr. Roshan Sutar, Dr. Anuradha Kushwaha, and Dr. Ram Ratan.
