Bhopal: Following the overwhelming victory of the BJP in the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated on Tuesday that he has never considered himself a candidate for the CM’s position, neither in the past nor at present. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not put forth any specific chief ministerial candidate during the 2023 assembly elections, where the BJP secured 163 out of 230 seats, while the Congress won 66 seats, and the Bharat Adivasi Party obtained one seat.
In a video statement shared on his official X account, Chouhan, who has served as Madhya Pradesh’s chief minister four times, expressed his commitment as a dedicated party worker. He emphasized that throughout his political journey, he has undertaken tasks assigned by the BJP with sincerity, dedication, and honesty.
“I have neither been a contender for the chief minister (post) earlier nor am I today. As a party worker, I have always carried out whatever work assigned by the BJP with dedication, to the best of my ability, genuineness and honesty,” Chouhan stated.
Expressing gratitude to the voters, Chouhan acknowledged the unprecedented support given to the BJP and considered he fortunate to be a worker of the party. He highlighted his pride in working alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he praised for leading the nation towards a glorious, prosperous, and powerful future.
