Mumbai, The country’s second largest passenger car manufacturer Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) on Monday marked the eight millionth car milestone with the roll out of its best-selling SUV, the new 2018 Creta.
The fastest eight millionth milestone marks Hyundai’s successful journey of 20 years in India. Since inception, HMIL has sold 53,00,967 units in the Indian market and 27,03,581 units in exports globally, the company said in a statement.
Hyundai rolled out its first million car, Santro, in 2006 , just eight years after commencement of commercial production in 1998 and thereafter, production picked up momentum, with the next million milestone being achieved within an average of 18 -19 months.
Hyundai’s consistent focus towards delivering the World-Class quality of its ‘Modern Premium’ products led to highest-ever domestic sales of 5,36,241 units-a growth of 5.2 per cent in financial year 17-18.
Commenting on this achievement, Y K Koo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, HMIL said, ‘Evolution of a revolution is Hyundai’s DNA. Today marks a momentous and landmark day in the history of Hyundai Motor India with the achievement of its eight millionth milestone.’
