Shimla, Aug 4 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Police on Sunday received new road safety and traffic management equipment, an official said.
In a ceremony, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu flagged off 25 new motorcycles for the traffic department, marking a crucial step in improving road safety under a World Bank-sponsored scheme.
The Chief Minister said, initially, these motorcycles have been allocated to Shimla and Nurpur districts, with plans to extend the scheme to Kangra and Mandi districts in the near future.
The initiative includes the deployment of digital technology to ensure the effective enforcement of traffic rules. This technology encompasses modern barricades, alco sensors, speed radars, Integrated Traffic Management Systems (ITMS), and CCTV cameras, all aimed at monitoring and managing traffic efficiently.
