Kangra, (UNI) Landslides were experienced on Matour Shimla National Highway twice on Saturday at Purana Kangra, leaving traffic disruption on the National Highway once for two hours and a second time at the same spot for half an hour.
The traffic came to a grinding halt for about two and a half hours in the day on Saturday following the landslides.
Due to these landslides, long traffic jams were seen on both sides of the landslide, while due to this, children and passengers had to face a lot of problems. Vehicles in hundreds were stranded on the national highway for two and a half hours on both sides of the landslide. As soon as the information was received about the landslide, the police and administration reached the spot.
Authorities, with the help of JCB, removed the landslide debris, and the traffic was restored on the NH. According to the information received, landslides have been happening intermittently on the Shimla-Matur at Purana Kangra road since yesterday, while today a landslide was experienced twice on the same spot, which affected the traffic.
At the time when the landslide occurred on the road, there was no vehicle passing on this busy NH, so a major accident was also averted. Two-wheelers and other small vehicles were diverted via Purana Kangra link road. When the landslide blocked the road, the students going to schools and colleges left for their destination on foot, risking their lives.
A huge traffic jam was witnessed on NH on Saturday.
