Himachal: Trainee woman constable dies after sudden illness

Dharamshala, March 2 (UNI) A woman constable undergoing training at the Police Training Centre (PTC) Daroh under the Himachal Pradesh Police died after her sudden illness at Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College in Tanda, police said here on Monday.

The police sources told UNI that a woman constable, a resident of Sirmaur district, had recently been recruited into the police department and was undergoing the Recruitment Training Course (RTC) at Police Training Centre Daroh. According to the sources around 1,253 male and female trainees have been undergoing training at the centre since February.

Sources said the trainee had complained of sudden illness recently and after her medical examination the doctors diagnosed her with an ulcer. As her condition worsened, she was referred to Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College in Tanda for treatment, where she was under medical care, however, her health reportedly deteriorated again late last night, and she passed away on Sunday.

The untimely demise has cast a pall of gloom over the police fraternity and the bereaved family. Departmental authorities are completing the necessary formalities in connection with the incident.
