- Such vehicle owners will not be able to get PUC, fitness and other necessary work done
Bhopal: About 19 lakh vehicles have been registered in Bhopal in the last 15 years. Out of these, about 5 lakh vehicles do not have High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) yet. The Transport Department has made it clear that vehicle owners without HSRP number plate will not get essential services.
According to the information, about 5 lakh new vehicles have been registered in Bhopal after 2019. Most of these vehicles have HSRP, but still about 22 thousand vehicles are yet to get this number plate. The owners of these vehicles will be informed soon by sending a notice or message.
Why is HSRP necessary
The Transport Department says that the HSRP number plate is high-quality, tamper-proof and has a unique laser-code, which prevents incidents like theft or applying fake number plates. Also, it helps in correct identification of the vehicle from the cameras installed on the road, making it easier to follow traffic rules and control crime.
Special teams will be formed in every district. A special team will be formed in Bhopal under the supervision of the District Transport Officer, which will update the data on the NIC vehicle portal through authorized dealers. Vehicle owners will be informed about the campaign through calls, SMS and social media.
Important message for vehicle owners
Bhopal RTO Jitendra Sharma said that if your vehicle is registered in Bhopal and it has not yet been fitted with HSRP, then do not delay. Go to the authorized dealer or transport office and get the number plate installed immediately. Otherwise, in the coming time, PUC, fitness certificate, RC change, permit renewal and other services will come to a halt. This process is easy and after online booking, the number plate can be installed on time.
