Bhopal: The Crime Branch arrested a youth named Ankit Kahar from Obedullaganj, following information provided by Anshul alias Bhuri, a henchman of high-profile drug smuggler Yasin Machhli. A country-made pistol was seized from Ankit’s possession during the arrest. It was revealed that he had purchased the firearm from Anshul for Rs 25,000.
In connection with the ongoing investigation, another suspect, Aman Dahiya, was arrested on Wednesday. Anshul is currently on police remand until August 7, during which he confessed to smuggling both weapons and drugs. His information has led to the arrest of additional persons involved in the buying and selling of firearms.
Anshul Singh alias Bhuri was initially arrested on Thursday. His information also led to the arrest of Taufiq Nizami on Monday. According to Additional DCP Shailendra Singh Chauhan, Ankit Kahar, a 33-year-old resident of Rehti Road in Obedullaganj, admitted during interrogation that he bought the pistol from Anshul three months ago and paid him Rs 25,000 for it. Anshul then arranged for the delivery of the weapon through his associate Aman Dahiya.
After learning about Anshul’s arrest through news reports, Ankit concealed the pistol on the roof of a dilapidated house. Following his directions, the police successfully recovered the firearm from the rooftop of this abandoned structure located near Bharat Talkies in Bhopal. Ankit is known to operate hotels in both Obedullaganj and Bhopal.
