Bhopal: The Health Department has initiated preliminary action in a serious case involving an allegedly forged and fabricated inspection report of NRI Nursing College and Arnav Hospital in Bhopal. Taking cognisance of the matter, the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Bhopal, has issued show-cause notices to officials accused of negligence and irregularities during the inspection process.

Acting on a complaint filed by NSUI state vice-president Ravi Parmar, CMHO Dr Manish Sharma has sought explanations from District Immunisation Officer Dr Ritesh Rawat and Dr Abhishek Sen, posted at UPHC Sai Baba Nagar. The notice cites serious discrepancies in the inspection report, including failure to physically verify the actual condition of the hospital and the presentation of misleading information.

On Thursday, NSUI workers led by state vice-president Ravi Parmar and district president Akshay Tomar staged a protest and gheraoed the CMHO office, demanding strict action against the erring officials. NSUI alleged that the inspection report of Arnav Hospital was deliberately fabricated, thereby misleading the government and the administration.

Parmar said the matter went beyond administrative negligence and amounted to a serious criminal offence. He demanded the immediate suspension of the officials involved and registration of an FIR to initiate criminal proceedings.

District president Akshay Tomar warned that failure to take stringent action would encourage corruption and fraud in the health system, adversely affecting patients and the quality of nursing education. He added that NSUI would approach the High Court if action is not taken against fake faculties and officials shielding such practices.
