Harmanpreet eyes strong finish before ICC Women’s WC

New Chandigarh, Sep 13 (UNI) India’s women’s cricket team is gearing up to face defending champions Australia in a three-match ODI series starting here tomorrow as their final preparation ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, beginning September 30.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur said at the pre-match press conference that the series offers a perfect challenge ahead of India’s World Cup opener against Sri Lanka.

“Before the World Cup, this series is very important for us, and we are very happy that we have got this opportunity playing with one of the best teams,” she said.

“These three matches are very important. We are also thinking about giving opportunity to everyone so that everybody keeps fresh for the World Cup, and at the same time, this series is very important, and we will give a hundred percent and try to win.”

Harmanpreet highlighted the team’s progress over the years, noting improvements in fielding, fitness, and overall performance. “Now we have come to a point where everyone is thinking that we can beat Australia. Earlier, we were working hard to get to that level,” she added.

India comes into the series with strong momentum, having won nine of the eleven ODIs they played this year, including series victories against England and Ireland, and a tri-series triumph over Sri Lanka and South Africa. The captain expressed confidence in her team’s abilities, saying, “We know each other, we know what all the members of the team can give for the team. The belief is there that we can beat any team any day.”

The series against Australia will test India’s preparation and resilience, giving the team a final opportunity to fine-tune strategies before hosting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
