Haris 66 powers Pak to 160/7 in Asia Cup

Dubai, Sep 12 (UNI) Pakistan posted 160 for 7 in their 20 overs against Oman in the 4th Group A match of the Asia Cup 2025 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium here tonight.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Pakistan suffered an early blow as opener Saim Ayub was trapped lbw for a duck by Shah Faisal in the second ball of the innings.

Mohammad Haris and Sahibzada Farhan then rebuilt the innings, with Haris in particularly fluent form, scoring 66 off 43 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. Farhan made 29 before being caught and bowled by Aamir Kaleem in the 11th over.

The innings saw moments of brilliance in the late overs. Fakhar Zaman (23*) played crucial cameos, while Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz added quick-fire boundaries to revive the innings at different stages. Faheem Ashraf provided a brief flourish with a four off Mohammad Nadeem but was caught at deep backward square leg for 8.

Key dismissals included Mohammad Haris (66) bowled by Aamir Kaleem, Salman Agha (0) caught by Hammad Mirza off Kaleem, Hasan Nawaz (9) caught by Hassnain Shah off Shah Faisal, and Mohammad Nawaz (19) caught by substitute Jiten Ramanandi off Shah Faisal. Shah Faisal finished with three wickets, while Aamir Kaleem also took three scalps.

The innings featured several highlights: Nawaz smashed successive fours off Hassnain Shah in the 17th over, Fakhar Zaman upper-cut for a boundary in the 18th, and Haris hitting a six over mid-wicket in the 9th over. The late wicket of Faheem Ashraf in the 19.5th over off Nadeem ended Pakistan’s innings on a competitive note.

Extras accounted for four runs, all from wides. Oman will now begin their chase of 161 in the second innings.
