Even though the state government has woken up after the incident of children dying due to wall collapse in Sagar and Rewa, the public representatives of the city are still asleep. An example of this is the dilapidated wall of 22 feet high Hamidia Girls School, which can become life threatening for children and pedestrians anytime. The special thing is that the said wall was declared dilapidated 4 years ago. 10 thousand people commute daily on the road next to the wall.
According to the information received, the maintenance of this 150-year-old school is stuck due to lack of coordination between the Municipal Corporation and the Education Department. This wall has been leaning towards the road for about 6 years. The school management had declared it dilapidated 2 years ago, the school management is continuously writing letters to the education department regarding this. Still the responsible department is not serious.
The teachers of the school said that when this wall started bending, the PWD had investigated it. A notice was also put on it that the wall is dangerous. Even after this the department did not pay attention. Now the other wall of this school is also towards the road, which has been bending towards the road for the last one year. Shopkeepers and residents park their vehicles on this road. According to the teachers, the plaster of a large part of this wall fell at night about a year ago. At that time no one was present here below. This part fell on a car parked here. Even after which the administration has not demolished it yet. Big trees have also grown on the upper part of the remaining wall. The wall in the front of the school is also in a very dangerous condition these days. If we talk about the classrooms in the school, their condition is also very bad. Water is dripping in almost every classroom, or there is dampness. The wall of the 9th class in the shed is also bending in the inner part of the class.
