Bhopal: Hamidia Hospital, the largest government hospital in Madhya Pradesh, is set to enhance its healthcare capabilities with the near-completion of a state-of-the-art Cath Lab, developed at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore. The advanced facility is expected to become operational soon and will offer critical diagnostic and treatment services such as angiography, CT scanning, and disease screening.
Equipped with cutting-edge angiography machines, the new Cath Lab has been specially designed to safely perform procedures even on patients suffering from severe kidney ailments—an innovation that significantly reduces risk during diagnostics.
Reduced risk for kidney patients
Speaking about the new facility, Prof. Dr. Ajay Sharma, Head of the Cardiology Department, explained that traditional angiography involves the use of contrast dye, which can be harmful to kidney patients and often raises creatinine levels. The newly installed machines, however, use minimal contrast dye, making the procedure much safer for patients with renal conditions.
Cancer screening also included
The facility will also cater to cancer patients, offering advanced screening capabilities to aid in early detection and treatment planning of life-threatening illnesses.
More diagnostic services by June end
Hospital officials have confirmed that the Cath Lab, along with enhanced CT scan and MRI services—part of a broader Rs 15 crore upgrade—will be fully operational by the end of June. A bi-plane imaging system, imported from Japan, is also being installed on the third floor of the newly constructed Block-1. The building infrastructure is ready, and installation will commence as soon as the equipment arrives.
