- Akshaya Tritiya boosts gold sales
Bhopal: Bhopal witnessed vibrant celebrations on Wednesday, April 30, as devotees marked the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram with grandeur and devotion. Across the city, colorful processions featuring saffron flags, traditional weapons, drums, and devotional chants brought the streets alive. Thousands of devotees participated in these rallies, creating a spiritual ambiance throughout the capital.
Special rituals and grand aartis were held at major temples, including the Parshuram Mandir in Shivaji Nagar and the Gufa Mandir in Lalghati. From early morning, devotees lined up to offer prayers, fruits, flowers, and traditional items like mango panna and sattu. Priests performed sacred abhishek rituals with Vedic chants, and the evening resonated with bhajans and kirtans.
Meanwhile, Akshaya Tritiya brought a festive buzz to local markets. Despite soaring gold prices, jewelry stores were packed as people rushed to buy ornaments for weddings and auspicious beginnings. Lightweight gold pieces were especially popular, with 22-carat gold priced at Rs 90,800 per 10 grams and 24-carat at Rs 94,660. Jewellers reported strong demand, undeterred by the price hike.
The day also saw mass wedding ceremonies held across Madhya Pradesh. In Bhopal’s Fanda area alone, 151 couples tied the knot in a community event attended by MLA Rameshwar Sharma, who presented gifts to the newlyweds. Similar celebrations took place in Ujjain, where 70 couples were married. To prevent child marriages, district officials closely monitored all events, with teams deployed by Bhopal Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh.
