New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav, today said the government is committed to developing state-specific frameworks and comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) aimed at strengthening the integration of Ayush systems with modern healthcare across India.
He was speaking after the inauguration of the departmental summit on ‘National Ayush Mission and Capacity Building in States’ at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) here.
Jadhav outlined the Government’s vision of building a resilient, inclusive healthcare system tailored to the diverse health needs of states and union territories. “Our focus is to develop state-specific frameworks and robust SOPs to enhance health infrastructure, provide quality Ayush services, and ensure seamless integration with modern medical systems,” he said.
Jadhav also highlighted the transformative initiative of establishing over 12,500 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, signifying a shift from outpatient-centric services to comprehensive healthcare delivery with an emphasis on preventive and promotive care.
He shared that the Ministry has also launched the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) for Ayush healthcare facilities in March 2024. Developed in consultation with NITI Aayog and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), these standards mark a crucial step towards ensuring uniform quality in infrastructure, human resources, medicines, clinical trials, and capacity building.
Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, said, “Health is both an enabler and a milestone for national development,” he observed, highlighting India’s successes in disease elimination and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets.
Dr. Paul stressed the urgent need to raise life expectancy from 71 to 85 years through an integrated healthcare approach, combining modern medicine and traditional systems like Ayush.
He emphasised strengthening the National Ayush Mission, enhancing medical education infrastructure, promoting wellness tourism, and involving the private sector and trained workforce in mainstreaming Ayush.
Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, highlighted the role of the ‘Har Ghar Ayuryog’ initiative, which integrates Ayush and Yoga at the grassroots level. He stated that the two-day summit, structured around six thematic areas, aims to catalyse behavioural change and policy implementation to foster better health outcomes across the nation.
