New Delhi, Feb 11 (UNI) Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, made baseless allegations against a Minister in the House, and therefore the government has decided to bring a breach of privilege motion against him.
Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex on Wednesday, Rijiju said that Gandhi made serious allegations against Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in the House without prior notice. This is a serious breach of privilege. The matter will be reported to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
Rijiju said that during the discussion on the Budget, Gandhi did not make any useful or substantive points. He was only making baseless allegations. When Gandhi was making the allegations, Rijiju told him that he should remain present in the House when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replies to the discussion at 5 PM.
He said that after delivering his speech, the Leader of the Opposition left the House, whereas the rule is that once a member finishes speaking, they should not leave the House immediately. Gandhi always leaves the House after delivering his speech. This is a serious matter, Rijiju said. UNI JRC KK
