Jaipur, Oct 8 (UNI) More than 35 wagons of a Rewari-bound goods train derailed near the New Srimadhopur railway station in the Sikar district of Rajasthan on Wednesday morning,marking the second train mishap in the state within two days.
According to GRP sources, the train from Phulera junction, 60 kms from Jaipur, was heading to Rewari in Haryana when all its three dozen wagons derailed blocking the busy rail route.
While no casualty has been reported in the incident, the schedule of a number of trains was disrupted with some trains being forced to divert to alternative routes and others running late.
Teams of railway technical staff have started working to clear the tracks.
Earlier on Tuesday, another goods train en route to Jaisalmer from Bikaner derailed near the Chani railway station in the Kolayat region.
Railway officials said the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined.However, according to an eye-witness account the loco driver’s attempt to save an ox on the tracks might have led to the derailment of the train.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported. However, the incident disrupted train schedules, with several services being diverted or delayed. Railway technical teams have begun working to clear the tracks.
Yesterday, a goods train traveling from Bikaner to Jaisalmer derailed near Chani railway station in the Kolayat region, highlighting a worrying trend of train accidents in Rajasthan.
