Bhopal: The historic Gohar Mahal complex will transform into a vibrant showcase of Madhya Pradesh’s artistry as the Five-Day Handicrafts Week Fair begins today, Saturday, December 6. Organized by the Madhya Pradesh Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation, the event aims to celebrate and promote the state’s rich artistic heritage.
Traditional crafts meet modern design
Fifty master artisans from various districts across the state will showcase their finest handmade products. The fair highlights include the intricate Bell Metal Art of Betul and Tikamgarh, vivid Gond Paintings, detailed wooden toys, and the elaborate Zari-Zardozi work from Bhopal.
Textile enthusiasts can explore premium silk and cotton varieties, such as Chanderi and Maheshwari silk garments, along with Saris from Waraseoni and Sausar, and the unique Bagh and Batik print fabrics from Ujjain. Fair In-Charge Arvind Sharma noted that traditional crafts have been updated with modern designs to offer consumers diverse and refined choices. The fair, a joint effort with the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), will be inaugurated this evening at 5 PM.
